Founded in 1964, Beijing International Studies University (BISU) is a renowned institution of higher education of multi-disciplines, offering subjects and courses of literature, management, economics and philosophy, with foreign languages and tourism as its dominant disciplines. It is an important base in China for the teaching and research of foreign languages, translation, tourism, economics and trade.

BISU enrolls an average of more than 1500 long-term and short-term international students from all over the world every year, including graduate, undergraduate, preparatory and advanced students. At present, there are more than 10,000 students at BISU.

BISU is located in Chaoyang District, Beijing, with the Central Business District (CBD) on its west and Beijing Municipal Administration Center (Tongzhou District) on its east.
