Strength in Discipline
Established in 1912, Nanjing University of the Arts is the only comprehensive art university in Jiangsu Province.The campus covers an area of about 700 acres, while the school buildings take up an area of 300,000 square meters at present. Recently, Nanjing University of the Arts has about 11000 students. It currently consists of 12 schools, including School of Fine Arts, School of Music, School of Design, School of Movie and Television, School of Dance, School of Media Arts and Communication, School of Popular Music, School of Humanities, School of Industrial Design, School of Cultural Industries and School of International Education. Apart from these schools, it also has Institute of Art Study, Information Technology and Management Center, the attached secondary school as well as other units. Nanjing University of the Arts has 41 undergraduate majors, nearly 60 major directions, as well as 5 doctoral degree authorization points, 6 master's degree authorization points and post-doctoral research stations in all five first-class disciplines under the category of Art (art theory, music and dance studies, drama and film studies, fine arts studies, design studies).

1. PURPOSE
This program aims to recruit teachers and graduates from countries of the Belt and
Road Initiative (BRI) who have an international vision, a certain foundation in Fine arts,
and an interest in Arts and Culture; have teaching experience in related disciplines in
their home countries, and aspire to carry on with teaching in related disciplines after
return; and contribute to the dissemination of Chinese culture and the upholding of
cultural exchanges between the two countries.

4. ADMISSION PLAN
● 7-15 students each year, who shall be teachers and graduates from BRI countries
who have an international vision, a good foundation in Fine arts, an interest in Arts
and Culture, have teaching experience in related disciplines in their home countries,
and aspire to carry on with teaching in related disciplines after return and make
contributions to the communication of Chinese culture and the cultural exchanges
between the two countries.
5. TEACHING LANGUAGE
● English
1) Candidates from native English-speaking countries are exempted from examination
2) Have attended an English-taught degree program in native English-speaking
countries or regions and have obtained a degree (education certification) accredited by
the Ministry of Education
3) A score of 6.5 in IELTS (with no sub-score less than 6), or a score of 85 or above in
TOEFL
4) or other examination certificates reflecting the candidate's English language
proficiency
6. TRAINING OBJECTIVES
● To nurture high-level, practice-oriented artistic talents with systematic professional
knowledge and high-level creative skills, who are able to systematically acquire the
basic theories and knowledge of the discipline of Fine arts and the professional field
of painting; have knowledge and ability in the creation of painting art, teaching and
research; and are therefore able to engage in painting art creation, art education, art
editing, press and publication, and cultural museum management in cultural and art
organizations including education, research, publication and management institutions.
● In addition to the specialized courses in Painting (Oil Painting, Illustration, Mural
Painting, Printmaking), there is a special cluster of courses on Chinese Painting and
Calligraphy, aiming to cultivate students' ability to appreciate Chinese culture, provide
them with inspiration for their artistic creation, offer them another possibility to
comprehend and understand Fine arts, and enrich their artistic perception and life
experience.
● To encourage students to continuously engage in the teaching of related disciplines
after graduation and return and contribute to the dissemination of Chinese culture and
the furtherance of cultural exchanges between the two countries.
7. APPLICATION
1) Visit the NUA online application system (https://nua.17gz.org/member/login.do) to
fill in the information and upload application documents.
a. Candidates should ensure that all information (especially passport number, passport name, gender,
contact number, address, etc.) is accurate, otherwise all admission-related problems arising therefrom
shall be your own responsibility.
b. All candidates shall select the "self-funded" option. If a scholarship is then successfully applied for, the
School of International Education will change the student category according to the scholarship.
c. Candidates should keep the phones on, check the online application system and check their emails
regularly. Our university will contact candidates if necessary.

(Those who want to apply for the "Chinese Government Scholarship-High Level
Postgraduate Program" shall submit the application by February 15, 2023).

● a. The copies of the Bachelor Program Graduation Certificate, Bachelor's Degree Certificate and
Academic Transcripts shall be certified by the university with an official seal. Any candidate who is
currently a university student shall submit the Certificate of Student Status issued by his/her university.
● b. A personal portfolio of fine art creations, at least 20 pages.
● c. A self-signed "Letter of Commitment to Integrity for NUA International Student Application" (https://

● d. Letters of Recommendation from two professors or associate professors, written and signed in
Chinese or English;
● e. The "Certificate of Physical Examination" shall be dated within 6 months from the date of upload.
Please download the "Physical Examination Form for Foreigners" (https://gjy.nua.edu.cn/2022/0312/
c939a85957/page.htm) from our website, and complete the examination at a standard local hospital. The
"Physical Examination Form for Foreigners" shall be completed in Chinese or English and stamped with
the hospital's official seal.
Special Note: For students who have passed the preliminary screening, we will arrange an interview.
Candidates are advised to check the online application system on a daily basis for website messages and
emails and also to keep the phones on.
8. TUITION FEES AND SCHOLARSHIP
● Tuition fees, accommodation fees and insurance fees for self-funded students are
charged with reference to the standards of (practical) master's degree students.
● Students with priority to apply for Chinese Government Scholarship-High Level
Postgraduate Program: Successful applicants will receive a full scholarship: please

criteria.
