China University of Petroleum (UPC) is a national key university directly affiliated to the Ministry of Education and a member of the “211 Project”,“985 project innovation platform for well-established disciplines” and “Double First-class construction” universities. Honored as “the cradle of petroleum science, technology, and management talents”, UPC is a renowned base for the training of high-level talents in petroleum and petrochemical industry and has already developed into a multi-disciplinary and well-rounded university.

UPC plays a significant role in over 10 research areas globally. It has more than 70 national and provincial key laboratories and research centers including the National Key Laboratory of Heavy Oil and the National Engineering Laboratory of Marine Geophysical Exploration and Equipment. The University attaches great attention to the industrialization of science and research findings, and has founded a National University Science and Technology Park.     Brief Introduction: 

    This program attaches great importance to frontier research and interdisciplinary research, leads key technological innovations such as efficient conversion and utilization of oil and gas, and conducts research on technologies for the efficient utilization of petroleum alternative resources and new energy. Through more than half a century of development, this research field has been expanded to the fields of new energy, new materials and bioengineering, and has formed an internationally renowned talent training and scientific research base in energy and chemical industry and modern chemical industry characterized by petroleum and petrochemical industry.

    Brief Introduction: 

    This program is the advantageous characteristic discipline of UPC and a key construction discipline of "211 Project" and "985 advantage discipline Innovation platform". In 2001, it was identified as a national key discipline and ranked first in all previous discipline assessments. In 2017, it was selected as the national "Double First-class" construction discipline. #Facing the development needs of the world oil and gas industry, this program trains high-level professional technical and management talents who have solid basic theory and systematic expertise, possess an international perspective and cross-cultural communication skills, and are able to engage in scientific research or engineering work.

    Brief Introduction: 

    The subject is one of the two national "Double First-Class" constructing subjects offered by UPC. Additionally, it received an A+ grade in the fourth round of the 2016 disciplines assessment. Geosciences in UPC, which is primarily supported by this program, is ranked among the top 1% of ESI around the world. #This program addresses the problems of mineral resources/energy and geological engineering, and aims at the forefront of international science and technology in the field of oil-gas exploration, conducts cutting-edge and innovative applied basic research, trains innovative research groups and interdisciplinary talents, and assists them in reaching original and advanced international scientific research accomplishments.
