Beijing City University, established in 1984, is a comprehensive university approved by the Ministry of Education of China. The university has the qualifications to confer graduate and undergraduate degrees recognized by the state, as well as offering secondary and higher vocational education. The university currently has two teaching campuses, located respectively in the Zhongguancun Science Park and the Airport Economic Zone in Beijing.
BCU has ten schools (departments) and one graduate school, covering over 70 majors including Science, Engineering, Humanities, Finance, Arts, Foreign Languages, Management, Medicine, and other subjects. At present, there are more than 21,000 full-time students and over 2,000 faculty members in BCU. It has become a high-level, demonstrative, internationalized, applied and comprehensive university with multi-disciplinary coordinated development.
BCU has established friendly relationships with more than 20 countries and regions including the USA,Canada, Mexico, Peru, Chile, the UK, France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Denmark, Finland, Belgium, Italy,San Marino, Russia, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Tajikistan, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, forming a diversified, comprehensive and multi-level overseas exchange mode. It has set up two Confucius Institutes overseas in San Marino and Mexico respectively and has also established several overseas exchange centers.
The major of Communication Studies in Beijing City University was founded in 1999 and has been recognized as a first-class undergraduate major in Beijing with its unique educational philosophy and comprehensive practical teaching system.
In the era of media convergence, the major adapts to the deep converging of all media and innovative development of the industry and creates outstanding communication talents with composite abilities. Its practical characteristics not only leads students to achieve excellent results in domestic and international competitions, but also regularly invites well-known media professionals to conduct lectures for students. At the same time, it has established practical cooperation relationships with a large number of high-quality media institutions. The Communication Studies major has three modules: International Audiovisual Communication, Convergent Journalism, and Convergent Media Advertising. This major has a 4-year program and is taught in both Chinese and English.
This project is designed for international students who aspire to work in the field of international communication in the future. After graduation, students can work in media companies in China or other countries to engage in positions related to international communication.
This major, established in 1998, is one of the earliest Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) majors in China and the Top-tier under graduate major in Beijing.The faculty include national TCM experts and industry leaders. We collaborate with over 30 renowned TCM enterprises and institutions in Beijing. In 2015, BCU co-established the Confucius Institute of TCM with the University of San Marino.In 2023, we joined the Global Alliance of Confucius Institutes for Traditional Chinese Medicine.

The program takes "Chinese language +" as the main mode to carry out short-term and long-term Chinese language and culture teaching. The Chinese language teaching mainly refers to the HSK syllabus, and according to the length of the program and the different Chinese language bases of the students, we provide HSK teaching of different levels and contents to help the students to get the ideal results in the HSK exams.
In addition to Chinese language, we also offer a series of courses on traditional Chinese culture and the development of modern Beijing, which are conducted in a variety of forms such as lectures, workshops, and outdoor practice activities.
According to the different needs of students, we will also offer courses featuring business, traditional Chinese medicine, Chinese art and design, media, etc. During the program, students will be able to visit the relevant internship practice bases and participate in various experiential activities.
